Gender and Development (GAD) recognizes that social differences between men and women have consequences for economic, social, and cultural development. It aims to promote equality, equity, and women's empowerment.
Key Focus Areas
Gender Mainstreaming — Integrating gender perspectives into policies, programs, and projects.
Women's Rights — Advocating for equal opportunities, representation, and protection against discrimination.
Anti-VAWC — Supporting the prevention and elimination of violence against women and children.
Gender Sensitivity — Promoting awareness and understanding of gender issues in the workplace and community.
GAD Focal Point System — Ensuring every office has designated personnel to champion GAD initiatives.
GAD Mandates
In accordance with the Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710) and the Philippine Development Plan, all government agencies are mandated to allocate at least 5% of their total budget for GAD programs and activities.
